In total, at least 19 of the many craft breweries in Virginia are located right here in the Shenandoah Valley. You can find many of them along the Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail. However, if you only have a little time to dedicate to visiting breweries in Virginia, we’ve listed some of our favorites below.
- Queen City Brewing in Staunton is one of the oldest nearby breweries in Virginia. They claim to be the first brewery in the area in the post-prohibition area, and today offer around 30 different beers on tap. With frequent live music and entertainment, it’s a great place to visit in the summer.
- The Shenandoah Valley Brewing Company is another staple among the Shenandoah Valley breweries in Virginia. It, too, is located in downtown Staunton, and they feature a fun range of live music on most weekends.
- One of the newer breweries in the Shenandoah Valley is Red Beard Brewing, also in Staunton. They have a fantastic outdoor beer garden that pairs perfectly with a cold pint of beer on a warm summer day!
- If you’re in the Lexington area for the day, don’t miss one of our favorite breweries in Virginia, Devil’s Backbone Brewing Co. The Lexington location is actually the second for this outstanding Virginia brewery. They serve their flagship offerings here and unique seasonal brews in their fantastic 15,000-square-foot taproom.
- Heliotrope Brewery is another excellent Lexington brewery. They focus on rustic ales and lagers and offer some delicious artisan-made pizza onsite, making this a great place to grab dinner while staying at our Shenandoah Valley cabins.
- Rockbridge Vineyard & Brewery is another of our favorite breweries in Virginia (and wineries!). They are midway between Lexington and Staunton and offer a fantastic place to unwind on a beautiful sunny afternoon in the Shenandoah Valley.
- If you plan on spending any time at Natural Bridge, a great stop to make along the way is Great Valley Farm Brewery and Winery, located just south of Lexington.
- If you plan to explore the Shenandoah National Park, you’ll find yourself near the Waynesboro area, home to several great breweries in Virginia. The first is Seven Arrows Brewing, home to a fantastic array of craft brews. We also recommend grabbing a bit to eat in their restaurant, Nobos Kitchen, which sources many of its ingredients from local farms.
- Basic City Beer Co. in Waynesboro is also great for beer enthusiasts. Their craft beer is anything but basic and is worth putting this place on your map!
- Stable Craft Brewing is another Waynesboro brewery that offers far more than beer. This brewery is a destination, housing both a farm brewery and farm winery, and they also serve a chef-inspired menu focused on locally sourced ingredients. It’s easy to see why this is one of the best breweries in Virginia!
